Mentoring is an important contribution volunteers make to the success of women in transitional housing. Some mentors are friends who can take time to listen and encourage the women.  Others have specific skill sets to share - a hobby or an essential life skill.   Mentors become a part of the extended family or village that the women and children can count on to help them develop stability and responsibility in community.

OASIS of NWA provides volunteer mentoring appropriate to each woman's needs.  If a woman has already begun to work with a mentor(s) before entering the OASIS housing or cottage industry program, we encourage that relationship to continue. Recovery for Life, a ministry of the Bentonville Church of Christ, is one of our partners in recruiting and training mentors.

As OASIS clients identify skill sets needed, mentors will be recruited from the community.  A data-base is being developed so contact us with your mentoring ideas and experiences.
